Prologue
A PILE OF REASONS NOT TO GIVE UP
Emperor’s Old Clothes
If a man today is looking for a reason to give everything up, he does not have to look far. That harvest lasts all year. At home and at work, in the protectorate and on the medical file, in the media and reality, with friends and enemies. Pressures and stress until one becomes numb, feeling of hopelessness and ”lack of meaning”, race with one’s own shadow, then endless fatigue and drab. Dispersal and emptiness. And even this travesty is not the appropriate finishing genre in a nation of heroic tradition.
This wasteness is the basis on which the pseudo-myth on omnipotence of those standing behind this rests. On eternity of a soap bubble. On futility of any attempt to escape. This is guarding the parasitic empire better than genetically modified dogs, gunmen and cruise missiles.
In order for someone to give everything up, he just needs to give himself up. The rest will simply follow. Bit, let us not fool ourselves, there is no Leeway or the Nederland. One cannot reach the better tomorrow by running away. We will have as much as we do for ourselves. And nobody will do it for us. Life is not a spectacle but history of salvation.
because of all this, this magazine before you can be read again as a collection of stories about people who are doing as much as they can, in their lives and their little worlds, in their arts and skills, businesses and days, dedications and service. Their examples are by far more beautiful, wealthier and more deserving a man than all this noise and banality around us. All this spider web of poor taste and low life.
We keep saying this to ourselves all over again.
Let us not be confused by small players in big roles. They have not learned anything in these years. ”They ate a goldfish. That was their first wish.” < |
